Mutant Year Zero: Footage for Turn-Based Tactics, Story, & a Talking Duck

Funcom Brings Back Post-Apocalyptic Glory

Mutant Year Zero sparked interest in its world with the introduction of a talking duck, and the rest was history. Not really. Today, Funcom announced pre-order availability for the story-driven turn-based experience inspired by a pen-and-paper RPG.

However, publisher Funcom and developer The Bearded Ladies didn’t reveal pre-orders and call it a day; they brought us a gameplay trailer. In it, you will find some turn-based goodness in conjunction with a look at the story and adventuring aspects. A post-apocalyptic world lies at the player’s disposal and, judging by the E3 reception, gamers love it. Destructible environments, unique abilities, and mutant strangeness are all a guarantee, and you can view it in the new footage below.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is our passion project,” said The Bearded Ladies CEO Haraldur Thormundsson. “It’s the game we always wanted to do and we’re incredibly excited to be working on it. We truly believe the unique mix of turn-based tactical combat combined with freeform exploration, stealth, and story will offer something new and different gamers have never experienced before.”

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden. is coming to PC during the second half of 2018. Right now, you can pre-order the Standard ($34.99) or Deluxe Edition ($54.99). Naturally, the latter comes with some physical goods: a desktop wallpaper, digital artbook, digital soundtrack, and a digital copy of the Mutant Year Zero pen-and-paper RPG book. Pre-ordering either copy of the game also grants a three-day head start to play, but pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition will give you a headstart on top of beta access. Check back for official release date coverage as we dive further into 2018’s releases.

Happy gaming.
