In ‘Dying Light 2’, Your Choices Will Matter, Says Developer

Choices & Consequences Are Going To Be a Big Factor in the Next Dying Light

Dying Light 2 is shaping up to be an open-world zombie game where the choices players make will have a huge impact on the game world. According to the game’s lead designer Tymon Smektala, the player will be looking for something that’s “very important that can change the fate of humanity.”

Two factions, named the Peacekeepers and the Scavengers, have already been confirmed to be in the game but Smektala said in an interview that there will be several other factions involved.

However, the player’s actions won’t just affect the human characters of the game. Those choices will also have an impact on the zombies or “the infected”, said Smektala.

For example, if the player sides with the Peacekeepers in a region then tat faction will start to get rid of the infected but things won’t resolve that easily. “So, now they don’t have a place to hide, so they’ll move to a different region of the city,” Smeltaka explained. “And perhaps there are some other people living there and they will get angry at the Peacekeepers, or even you because you work with them, because you have pushed that threat into their district.”

The factions that the player is on good terms with can also determine what hideouts they get to use, Smeltaka also said.

Dying Light 2 currently doesn’t have a release date but will be available on the PC, PS4 & Xbox One.
