Don’t Forget, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit Launches Today

Download it Free of Charge on Xbox One, PS4, or PC

This is just a friendly reminder that The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit — a sort of self-contained prequel to Life is Strange 2 — is launching globally today. It can be downloaded free of charge on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

During Microsoft’s E3 briefing two weeks ago, Dontnod and Square Enix debuted The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, calling it an “all-new, original narrative experience set in the critically-acclaimed, award-winning Life is Strange franchise.” The original trailer had a release date of June 26th but the companies have since decided to push it out one day earlier.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit centres around a 10-year-old boy named Chris who has a deep desire to be a superhero. Chris has a big imagination and loves playing with his toys, but now something extraordinary will actually happen to him. Players will experience “a slice of Chris’ life” in the game which will, somehow, lead up to the debut episode of Life is Strange 2 on September 27th.

“We have always imagined Life is Strange as a diverse universe filled with interesting characters and stories to tell,” said Michel Koch and Raoul Barbet, Creative Directors of Life is Strange at DONTNOD Entertainment. “The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit and the story of Chris is one of many stories that we really want to share with the world.”

Dontnod has already said that the game will be structurally different than past Life is Strange games. In fact, there is a strong possibility that subsequent playthroughs will have new content to discover. They also hint at secrets that the community will need to unravel. Hmmm, very interesting.
