“Hand on heart, its October 26th,” Zelnick said before adding that when he said “hands on hearts”, it’s “over 1,000 people at Rockstar games with their hands on their hearts.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 was originally supposed to come out in Fall 2017 but then got delayed to Spring 2018. But in February it got delayed yet again to its current release date.

In the upcoming prequel, players will take control of Arthur Morgan, a member of a gang lead by a man named Dutch Van der Linde.

An official press release explained the story’s premise:

After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.
