May’s Pokemon Go Community Day Is Live Now with Shiny Charmanders and Ho-Ohs

Pokemon Go Fans Also Have a Chance to Catch a Special Charizard

This month’s Pokemon Go Community Day is finally here, and brings with it some shiny Pokemon, a special unique fire-type attack for Charizard, and the surprise return of Ho-Oh to Raid Battles (who’s staying until June 7th).

Pokemon Go May Community Day

The Community Day event is a monthly event where, for just a few hours, you can encounter special Pokemon in the wild. There’s also the chance to learn a previously unavailable move for a Pokemon or its evolution – but this excludes Fast TMs and Charged TMs, as you must catch or evolve the Pokemon during event hours.

Speaking of, the listed event hours for today are:

North America

  • 11 AM – 2 PM PT
  • 2 PM – 5 PM ET

Europe and Africa

  • 10 AM – 1 PM BST

Asia-Pacific

  • 12 PM – 3 PM JST

For this month’s event, Pokemon Go players will earn triple their usual amount of Stardust when capturing a Pokemon, and any Lure Modules that are activated during this event will last for three hours, rather than their usual 30-minutes.

The special Pokemon for this month is Charmander, who will be spawning much more frequently during the hours listed above, and Pokemon Go players have the chance of finding a shiny version it.

There is also the chance of any Charmeleon that evolves into a Charizard during the event hours will learn the unique fire-type move Blast Burn – even if the Pokemon was caught before the event begun.

A final surprise to top off the new Community Day is the return of the Legendary Pokemon Ho-Oh, who can be found in Raid Battles from today until June 7th.
