Nintendo Starts Cracking Down on Switch Hackers

Nintendo Ain’t Messing Around

Any Switch owners that are hacking or modifying the handheld console are at risk of getting banned from using the Switch’s eShop, posting, online play and interacting with their friends. If you’ve been banned then you’ll be met with a screen with this error code: 2124-4007.

However, banned users are still able to view the news feed and can still update their apps. Notably, the Twitter user who took the photo above explained that his Switch was modified.

According to Nintendo Everything, the Twitter user was told by Nintendo that “the ban will not be cancelled due to violations of the End User Licensing Agreement.”

Any banned users who would wish to take legal action against Nintendo for banning their Switch from usage of online features would have to settle their case in arbitration, according to Section 7 of the Switch’s EULA.

A legal case against Nintendo in this context “shall be finally settled by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association”, read the EULA.
