Mega Man 11 Release Date Now Confirmed

Mega Man 11 Will Launch on Consoles and PC This October

UPDATED (05/29/18)

Well, that was quick! Capcom has now issued a press release regarding Mega Man 11 and its release date. Mega Man 11 will launch on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4, and PC on October 2nd, 2018. Capcom has also dropped a new trailer that shows a ton of gameplay footage including the new Double Gear system and two of the game’s bosses.

Here is some more info about the Double Gear system:

  • Speed Gear – Introduces the ability to slow the flow of time, a useful tool for many situations such as navigating tricky platforming sections or avoiding fast-moving enemies or obstacles.
  • Power Gear – Allows players to charge the Mega Buster to a new level, and weapon-based abilities become even more robust.
  • Double Gear – When at critical health, Mega Man will gain access to a hidden ability to activate both gears simultaneously, unleashing maximum power and allowing for deft manoeuvres in the direst situations.

The Singapore PlayStation Store may have inadvertently leaked the release date for Capcom’s anticipated Mega Man 11. According to the listing, Mega Man 11 will release on October 3rd, 2018.

Mega Man 11 release date PSN leak

The listing has since been removed from PSN but not before Twitter user Wario64 was able to take a screencap. You can see it for yourself above.

The game description reveals an “innovative new Double Gear system” that can boost Mega Man’s speed and power “for a new twist on the satisfying gameplay the series is known for.”

Here is the full description:

“Mega Man is back! The newest entry in this iconic series blends classic, challenging 2D platforming action with a fresh look. The stunning new visual style refreshes the series’ iconic colorfulness, combining hand-drawn environments with detailed, 3D character models.

To save the day, the Blue Bomber must battle Robot Masters and take their powerful weapons for himself, which now changes the hero’s appearance with new levels of detail. The innovative new Double Gear system lets you boost Mega Man’s speed and power for a new twist on the satisfying gameplay the series is known for.

A variety of difficulty modes makes this the perfect opportunity to experience Mega Man for the first time!”

The game was announced late last year during the series’ 30th Anniversary stream. Capcom mentioned that they were targeting a late 2018 release so the October 3rd date does seem to fall in line. With E3 so close, it’s possible we’ll get confirmation during one of the major press conferences.

Fans were quick to point out the obvious graphical similarities to Keiji Inafune’s Mighty No. 9, a popular Kickstarter project that failed to meet fan expectations.
