Mads Mikkelsen Talks About Working on Death Stranding

It’s no secret that Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding is not only intriguing, but also very mysterious, and with E3 2018 just a few weeks away fans are expecting to find out a whole lot more. Of course just a few days ago Kojima himself teased a brand new trailer for the event, and recently Mads Mikkelsen, the man behind one of the main characters of the game, spoke about his time working on Death Stranding, and how it differs from his previous experience in film.

In a recent interview with the French website Premiere about Arctic, his latest film, Mikkelsen was asked about his work with Hideo Kojima on Death Stranding and how it compared to working on movies. Interestingly Mads Mikkelsen admitted that his background in ballet was a huge asset during the motion capture process. Mikkelsen then revealed that working with Hideo Kojima was a unique experience in itself. He talked about how the process is quite different than traditional cinema, however one similarity between the two is how the actor can breathe life into the characters. “My past as a dancer has been beneficial to get into this character. I did ten years of ballet before being an actor and this experience allowed me to find the appropriate movements. It is a different exercise compared to cinema even if in the end we injects emotions to give life.”

If you’ve been following Death Stranding since it was first revealed at E3 two years ago, you’ll know that Mads Mikkelsen isn’t the only big name involved in the creation of the game. In fact, the cast is star-studded with names like Norman Reedus and Guillermo del Toro, as well as a rumored Diane Kruger as the female lead. Hopefully we’ll get confirmation about the female lead at E3, as well as some more big details about Death Stranding.
