Former Ubisoft Developer Says Every Multiplayer Shooter Game Will Have Battle Royale Modes Within the Year

Battle Royale Will Be in All Multiplayer Shooters Within the Year Says Ex-Ubisoft Dev

There’s no denying that the Battle Royale game mode is the biggest trend sweeping the gaming industry. And despite some people being vehemently against the integration of the insanely popular game mode into long-standing franchises and new games alike, a former Ubisoft developer has quite the opposite view. In fact, Alex Hutchinson, the former creative director at Ubisoft Montreal, believes that within the next year every multiplayer shooter will be home to Battle Royale.

Hutchinson, a veteran in the industry having worked on titles like Far Cry 4 and Assassin’s Creed 3, believes that within the year the Battle Royale game mode will be not only a trend, but an essential addition to all multiplayer shooters on the market. This comes after reports that both Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and Battlefield V will come with a Battle Royale mode.  According to Hutchinson, the effort required in order to make this happen is a choice, not an obstacle, especially when the gaming companies  in question look at just how successful titles like Fortnite and PUBG have been.

Here’s what he had to say on Twitter:

It will be interesting to see if this does in fact hold true over the course of the next year, considering that while it may be successful as a game mode now, it may lose some of its momentum and shine if gamers can play it in every title they own. Only time will tell, and both BF and COD seem to support this not-so-crazy idea of Hutchinson’s.

Can you see this becoming the standard for all multiplayer shooters? Do you like the idea of making Battle Royale a part of every shooter game? Let us know in the comments below and keep it locked for updates!
