‘God of War’ Developer Cory Barlog Addresses Fan Concerns About the Game

The Creative Director of the Upcoming God of War Game Speaks Out

Its no secret that the upcoming God of War game has caused some controversy among God of War fans due to how different it is from previous entries. Despite all the recently released gameplay footage, the game still has its critics, particularly with the fans of the previous games.

However, the game’s creative director, Cory Barlog, insists that this new game is still the same action-packed God of War that we all know and love. In an interview he had with Kotaku last month during a preview event, Barlog defended the game by saying that it remains faithful to the established series.

“I know there are a lot of people who are out there saying, ‘It’s totally different. They’re changing a lot of things. Hashtag Not My God Of War. Hashtag Cancel My Pre-Order,” said Barlog. “But I think a lot of people have to play it.”

“We’ve been very restrictive of the information and what we’re showing visually, and part of that is my paranoia. I want people to experience this game as a whole,” he explained. “Everybody who made this game—or a good portion of this team—has been a part of God of War from the very beginning. Nothing has changed cynically or under pressure or just willy-nilly.”

“All of us put a lot of heart and soul into this game, and the DNA of what this franchise is still pumps through the blood of this game,” Barlog said.

Well, the team at COGconnected is certainly excited for this next chapter in Kratos’ epic story! Notably, the game is said to take over 40 hours to 100% complete!

Reviews for God of War should start coming out next Thursday on April 12th and the game is scheduled to come out on April 20th for the PS4.
