Fallout: California Is Coming Along, Thanks to Fan Dedication

Presenting Project: Brazil

Fallout mod projects are all over the wasteland of the internet, but here’s the latest product of passionate fans. Fallout: California is nearing its final stages of completion, thanks to the dedication of modder/creator Thaiauxn and his creative partner Rick. This is a total conversion mod that serves as a prequel to the events of New Vegas. By utilizing the same devkit, and by implementing their own hand-crafted features, the team has facilitated a unique experience with its own compelling story and location.

Originally termed Project: Brazil, the devs have been putting together Fallout: California since 2013. According to them, a release date has been set but hasn’t been disclosed. Right now, the priority is fine-tuning the experience to leave as few issues as possible come launch time. Furthermore, according to the moddb page, there will be an Open Beta once everything is in order. After years of work, it seems this Fallout: New Vegas total conversion mod shall witness a 2018 release, provided there are no more setbacks. And in preparation for the eventual release, the team has released a brand-new, riveting teaser trailer. You can find it down below. Evidently, the game will be playable in 4K; and of course, there will be a slew of visual and mechanical upgrades over the source IP.

We’ve witnessed impressive Fallout mods in the past, such as the eerie horror mod and the total conversion of New Vegas in Fallout 4 (which has since been scrapped, unfortunately). At least, this latest mod looks like its here to stay. You can read more about Fallout: California at the official page. The mod even has its own Facebook page, which you can discover here. Check back for updates on when the standalone experience will officially release. Until then,

Happy gaming.
