Wherein Lady Death Is Your Last Hope
Sometimes the cure is almost worse than the disease. Case in point, poor Irra must journey to find Lady Death herself in Dream Alone. Only she can cure Irra’s village of the death-like sleep that has befallen them. I’m sure she’s perfectly harmless.
Dream Alone is a side-scrolling adventure from Warsaw Games. In it, you play as Irra, a young boy whose entire village has been cursed into an enchanted slumber. Irra must go on a harrowing journey to find Lady Death, so that her magic can lift the curse. Don’t let my use of the word ‘boy’ here fool you. This game looks positively grim.
The gameplay has that Limbo feel, wherein you’re a small child in a huge and terrifying world. There are puzzles to solve, monsters to survive and haunting worlds to traverse. There’s no concrete release date just yet, but Dream Alone will eventually be out for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch later this year. In the meantime, there’s a trailer embedded below. Check it out! The animation has a very storybook feel, one that adds a little whimsy while still leaving you more or less powerless and frightened.
