Super Smash Bros for Nintendo Switch Will Be Playable at E3

Get Ready for the First Tournament

The hardcore Super Smash Bros fan can get their hands on the latest installment as early as E3 2018, which is three months from now. Nintendo will host an invitational tournament at the expo, and they shall hand-select the group of players who will participate.

Nintendo has yet to confirm whether the game will be accessible on the ground floor. Since this will be the game’s debut, keeping it out of the hands of the press would be bizarre. That’s not to say it won’t also be playable for ticket attendees.

Ever since Super Smash Bros was revealed for Nintendo Switch in Nintendo Direct, fans have speculated on the type of game it will be and which characters will hit the roster. We’ve been left to ponder whether this new iteration will be a Super Smash Bros Wii U port or a new build. The fact a tournament has been announced prior to any gameplay reveal may suggest that any and all participating players will be very familiar with the control scheme and character moves. I’m saying Super Smash Bros for Nintendo Switch may indeed be a port with an expanded character roster. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Likewise, there will be a Splatoon 2 tournament at the expo. Tournaments shall take place on June 11 and June 12. It may be safe to assume we’ll obtain Nintendo’s stage show just beforehand. Stay tuned for updates leading to the big event.
