Sony Announces Permanent Price Drop on PlayStation VR

PlayStation VR Bundle Will Be $100 Cheaper Starting Tomorrow

A PlayStation VR bundle will get a permanent price drop this week to $299 USD / £259.99 /34,980 yen, Sony has announced today.

PlayStation VR headset updated

The PlayStation Camera Bundle is the one in question and it will begin selling at the new price starting tomorrow, March 29th. That’s a pretty good price reduction, shaving $100 off the current asking price of $399 USD / £349.99 /44,980 yen.

The camera bundles getting their price slashed are a little different depending on your region. In the US, it’s the PlayStation VR Doom VFR Bundle. It contains the PS VR headset, a PlayStation camera, and a copy of DOOM VFR alongside the PlayStation VR Starter Pack. In Europe, the same bundle is being sold except instead of the Starter Pack, it includes a download code for PlayStation VR Worlds. In Japan, the PlayStation VR Camera Bundle contains the headset and camera but no additional games.

There is no word on whether Sony will also drop the price on its other PS VR box that includes just the headset.

According to Sony, more than 300 PS VR games and experiences have been released for the headset since its launch in October 2016. Some highly-anticipated games on the horizon include Blood & Truth, Wipeout Omega Collection, Eden Tomorrow, Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality, Smash Hit Plunder, and more.

Sony is expecting the price cut to drive PS VR sales as it leads into its second quarter. Sony has dropped the price before on many occasions but they were only for a limited time.
