NBA Superstar James Harden May Have Just Spoiled the Next Call of Duty Game

The Houston Rockets Player Was Wearing a Special Ball Cap Before Last Night’s Game

James Harden, the starting shooting guard for the Houston Rockets and the presumed frontrunner for the NBA MVP award this year, was wearing a peculiar hat before playing in last night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Check it out in the tweet below!

The hat Harden wore seems to be hinting at the next Call of Duty game that is reportedly going to be titled “Black Ops IIII” (but not “Black Ops IV” because…reasons, I guess?). According to what two sources told Kotaku, the next game “is indeed a fourth [Black Ops]” and it will be developed by Treyarch. The game’s setting will be another futuristic one and it is scheduled to come out later this year, Kotaku’s sources say. Another source also confirmed to Kotaku that the logo Harden’s hat was the official logo for the upcoming game.

Call of Duty’s decision to head back to the future is an intriguing one to say the least. Series fans have always been divided on whether or not the franchise was suited to being set in the future and games such as 2014’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and 2016’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (whose reveal trailer became one of the most disliked YouTube videos ever with over three million dislikes) weren’t well-received by all Call of Duty fans.

The Battlefield series, Call of Duty’s main rival in the military first-person shooters genre, has went in an opposite direction by setting its previous game in the rarely used setting that is World War One and by reportedly setting its next game in World War Two.

It should also be noted that while all the futuristic Call of Duty games sold well, it was the franchise’s return to World War Two, Call of Duty: WWII, that gave the franchise its best sales in the current generation of consoles.

So CoD fans, what do you think? Are you excited for another futuristic CoD game or do you want another game set in another past conflict? Let us know your thoughts below!
