Mobile Version of PUBG Gets Soft Launch in Canada

Though No Word Has Been Said on a Full Western Release For PUBG Mobile

It’s a very exciting week for you mobile gamers out there. With Fortnite coming to your mobile much sooner than expected, and now a mobile version of PUBG is officially in the works, it seems that everyone is going to be able to scratch their battle royale itch.

After its recent release in China, PUBG will be slowly making its way across the globe. With nothing yet confirmed regarding a Western release of the mobile app, it seems very likely that there will be, as the beta version of the game got a ‘soft launch’ the other day in the Canadian Google Play Store.

A soft launch is similar to Early Access, as the Developers of the game put their product into a regional store in order to test the waters a bit; see how stable it is, and estimate how much interest there would be in a larger release. This is pretty common amongst mobile Developers, as gives them a rough idea of how well the game will sell.

This soft launch will hopefully show the game’s Developers how interested people are going to be in this product, and then they’ll start releasing it worldwide. But, fear not, as though PUBG is available to download for anyone in Canada, after a quick region change you can just convince your phone that you happen to be in Canada as well.

From what we’ve seen of the game, it seems to have stayed true to its PC parent, as it features the game’s original map, and some of PUBG’s trademark player models. For anyone wishing to play some battle royale on the go, you’ll need Android 5.1.1 or above, and at least 2 GB of RAM, according to the Google Play page.
