The Surge 2 Announced & Scheduled for 2019; Will Be More Ambitious

The Surge 2 Will Be Developed Using an Upgraded Engine

Techland wanted to create an action RPG that captured the essence of Dark Souls but in a sci-fi setting. The game we got, The Surge, proved successful in capturing the souls-like feel yet managed to stand in its own exo-suit. And as a result of its success, the publisher has announced The Surge 2 for 2019.

The Surge 2 was revealed during a Paris event in which publisher Focus Home Interactive showcased its game lineup. It will arrive on the same platforms as its predecessor: PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. According to the report, Deck13 will craft the experience with an updated game engine. With this, they promise a more expansive and dynamic environment that’s quite ambitious – We’re talking an entire devastated city. That said, the tile will stay true to the original by retaining its gritty aesthetic and limb-targeting system. However, the devs intent to improve the character progression system.

Little more is known about The Surge 2. Fortunately, the concept promises a robust world with additional features. Expect new weapons, abilities, implants, new enemies, and, of course, bosses. We look forward to learning more as time goes by. If you have yet to play the original The Surge, this may as good a time as any to give it a go. Also, it’s never too late to check out our in-depth review.

Happy gaming.
