Black Widow Movie Confirmed by Captain America Actor

The Captain America Actor, Chris Evans, Says a Black Widow Movie Is Coming

Could Black Widow finally get some solo time in the spotlight? Captain America actor, Chris Evans, basically confirmed that she would in an interview last week. Speaking to ET Canada, Evans spoke extensively about the success of Black Panther and how there was “nothing [Marvel Studios] can’t do” and how the movie studio had a “winning recipe“.

And I’m sure it’s gonna have the exact same effect when Captain Marvel comes out, and then the Black Widow movie comes out,” Evans said.

Earlier this year, several outlets reported that a Black Widow solo movie was in development and that the project had picked its scriptwriter, Jac Schaeffer. Schaeffer has previously written an official Disney short movie titled “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure“, a sci-fi action comedy titled “The Shower” (which is set to star Anne Hathaway) and directed and wrote “TiMER“, a film that was featured in the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival.

Fans have long speculated why Black Widow (played by Scarlett Johansson), a character who has been in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since her 2010 debut in Iron Man 2, hasn’t gotten her own solo movie in so many years. After all, she’s a major MCU character, a member of the Avengers and even characters like Ant-Man have had their own solo films.

There has also been the recent trend of female-lead action movies such as Atomic Blonde, Salt, Ghost in Shell (which also starred Scarlett Johansson) and Colombiana. Most recently, there’s Red Sparrow, an spy action-thriller movie starring Jennifer Lawrence.

MCU fans what do you make of this? Are you interested in a Black Widow solo movie? Let us know in the comments!
