It Looks Like Project Octopath Traveler Has Improved a Ton Since the Demo

Project Octopath Traveler Demo Generated Over 1 Million Downloads

Late last year during a live Nintendo Direct, Square Enix dropped a free demo out of the blue for a new JRPG called Project Octopath Traveler. Designed by the same team behind the Bravely Default games, Project Octopath Traveler was met with a ton of high praise even in its unfinished state. Now that Switch owners have had a chance to give it a go, the development team has put out a new video that shows how much further the game has progressed and the changes they’ve implemented from player feedback.

According to the video, The demo was downloaded over one million times with players sending in over 45,000 survey responses. The team took the responses to heart because a number of improvements have now been made to the game based on the survey data.

Some of the changes include better controls for walking and running, a fast travel option, better visibility in dungeons, a bunch of UI changes, tweaks to the battle system, and more. It’s most certainly worth watching if you had concerns about the demo. It’s also nice to see a team listen to their community’s constructive criticism and translate that in order to make a better game.

Project Octopath Traveler is scheduled to come out on Switch later this year. We’re also pretty confident that the name is just a codename and that this might mould into a third Bravely Default game.
