Pokemon Go Just Added 23 More Monsters to Catch

Second Community Day Event Begins February 24th

Niantic has announced that they have added even more monsters to Pokemon Go today — 23 more, to be exact.

The new creatures are part of the third generation, or the Hoenn region, from Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. The developer isn’t revealing the names of the critters, leaving it up to the rabid fanbase to uncover them instead. The accompanying image, however, does include Camerupt, Aron, Cacnea, Flygon, Aggron, Solrock, Lunatone, Trapinch, and Whismer. Additionally, players have found even more in the wild including Loudred, Numel, Vibrava, and more.

Pokemon Go Gen 3

The addition of these 23 new Pokemon brings the Gen 3 total to exactly 100 in the game. Instead of dropping the entire set like they did for Gen 1 and 2, Niantic has chosen to drop them incrementally. They first dropped five Pokemon during the Halloween event, then 50 in December, and another 20 on Christmas. Hoenn Legendaries Groudon and Kyogre have also been available for catching during exclusive raids.

Doing the math, this leaves 35 more Pokemon from Gen 3 to be announced at a later date. It is possible we may see the remaining monsters during a Valentines Day event.

Niantic also announced the second monthly Community Day event for Pokemon Go. It will start on February 24th and focus on Dratini. Players can expect an increased spawn rate for Dratini, as well as a 3X increase for Stardust and 3-hour Lure items.
