God of War Principle Artist Denies PS4 Visual Downgrade

Principle Artist Says There Has Been No PS4 God of War Downgrade

Just a few short days ago game director Cory Barlog confirmed the release date for the highly anticipated PS4 exclusive God of War. Alongside this announcement, a new story trailer dropped as well, leading to some fans calling Sony out for downgrading the graphics. Now, Raf Grassetti responded to these claims.

Earlier this week, a new God of War story trailer dropped and fan reactions were a bit mixed. Though many fans praised the trailer for the display of some much needed character development for Kratos, others were quick to point out that it just didn’t look as visually appealing as previous trailers. The game’s principle artist, Raf Grassetti, says this isn’t the case. You can check out the story trailer in question below.

Grassetti stated that there have been no visual downgrades to God of War, but the direction of light and fog have changed since the E3 trailer in 2016. The artist also noted that this is something fans will understand when they actually play the game. Grassetti addressed the rumors on Twitter  and roughly translated he stated “What changed was just the direction of the light and fog, this piece of E3 is in the game but different, you will understand when to play. Jormungandr, Kratos and Atreus remain exactly the same as the trailers, are comparing with other scenes and lights.  I’m laughing, watching the comics.”

Earlier this week Grassetti also tweeted out some screenshots from the story trailer, which you can check out below.

God of War will be released exclusively for PlayStation 4 on April 20. What do you think about the trailer and Grassetti’s explanation? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and keep it locked for updates!
