The Next Chapter Arrives this Spring
Game director Cory Barlog has finally confirmed the release day for Sony Santa Monica’s highly anticipated PS4 exclusive. He revealed as much over at the PlayStation blog, along with new details on premium edition copies and a new trailer. Get ready for God of War 4 this Spring.
God of War 4 will be arriving on the PlayStation 4 on April 20. It’s been a long road leading up to this announcement, so Barlog couldn’t help but relay his excitement: “First, let me say that this is my favorite release day of my entire career. If I live to be 100, I do not think I will be able to top this release day.” Then he gave us the lowdown on what premium game copies.
First, if you pre-order God of War 4 at any participating retailer, you’ll acquire three legendary shield skins. Additionally, if you happen to pre-order at GameStop or EB Games, you’ll receive the “Luck of Ages” XP boost. As Barlog explains, Luck influences XP gain, Hacksilver gain, and increase the ability to trigger in-game perks. Then we have premium copies of the game.
For $129.99 USD/$169.99 CAD, players can obtain the God of War 4 Collector’s Edition, which includes a 9″ statue of Kratos and Atreus; a cloth map is included, along with a Huldra Bros carving set. Better yet, it comes with special in-game items that will give you an advantage in battle.
However, there’s the bigger God of War 4 Stone Mason’s Edition. Available in the US and Canada only, it comes with Atreus’ wooden horse and troll carvings from the E3 2016 trailer. There’s the Stone Mason ring, whose relevance will be made clear in the game, and talking Mimir head Keychain. All items are available, thanks to the studio’s collaboration with Gentle Giant. And you can pick up the Stone Mason’s Edition for $149.99 USD/$199.99 CAD (Only available at EB Games in Canada).
Lastly, we learn about the God of War 4 Digital Deluxe Edition. Includes the Death’s Vow Armors Set that increases Strength, but it also delves into Kratos’ story. The included digital comic, by Darkhorse, Issue #0, begins unraveling the story of Kratos before he sets out on his journey with Atreus. Along with the commentary artbook, the edition makes for a fine package. Get it for $69.99USD/$89.99 CAD.
