Streamer Beats Rage-Inducing Cuphead in only 46 Minutes

The First Cuphead Speedrun Clocked

Cuphead has been generating huge buzz with its difficult gameplay and retro-style visuals, so much so that it’s only natural speedrunners would try their hand at the old-school platformer. Well, it looks like we have our first recorded playthrough lasting less than an hour.

Cuphead gets release date

For the average player, a complete playthrough will take anywhere from 8-14 hours. This factors in the learning curve behind each boss; every one of them has a pattern to being defeated. Apparently, one streamer learned these patterns because he managed to beat every single boss in less than an hour. At the time of this writing, his playthrough—the fastest playthrough yet—has clocked at 46 minutes. This has been accomplished by the streamer known as Frayzlo. Not only did he beat the game quickly, but he did so in ultra hard.

You can marvel at Frayzlo’s speedrun in the video below:

Since Frayzlo did die a few times during the process, chances are someone will beat his record pretty soon. That is if he doesn’t beat it himself. But there’s no shortage of speedrunners to take on a difficult game, and Cuphead is both difficult and stunning. Therefore, expect new records in due time.

Cuphead is available now on PC and Xbox One. The hope is that someday soon, Studio MDHR will add online co-op. Considering this is their first game release, however, they have done a great job. Lastly, be sure to stay tuned for our own in-depth review of Cuphead.

Happy gaming.
