Metal Gear Survive Targets February 2018 Release Date

Pre-Order Bonuses for Metal Gear Survive Also Revealed

Konami has announced that Metal Gear Survive, the follow up to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, will release next year on February 20th, 2018 in North America and February 22nd, 2018 in Europe.

The news appeared on Konami’s Twitter alongside the Survival Pack pre-order bonus for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Judging from the picture, players who pre-order will receive four gold-plated weapons, two additional gestures, four metallic survival scarves, “kabuki” face paint, the “Boxman” accessory, and a Mother Base nameplate.

Strangely absent is the PC version of Metal Gear Survive which may suggest that it won’t be launching simultaneously with the console versions.

Metal Gear Survive is actually a spin-off of the Metal Gear Solid franchise and is the first game released since series creator Hideo Kojima left Konami in 2015. Kojima is currently working on Death Stranding for the PS4 at his new company Kojima Productions. Metal Gear Survive represents an interesting challenge for Konami. Not only is Kojima absent, but the game differs from the series by being a co-op survival game. Those who have dabbled in Metal Gear Online should have some idea what they’re getting into but for others, it’s a pretty drastic departure. We’ll be watching this one closely.

Metal Gear Survive was originally slated for a 2017 release but was pushed back so the development team can spend extra time polishing it.
