Here’s Who Legendary Wants to Star in Their Detective Pikachu Film

Please, Please Let it be Dwayne Johnson Who Takes The Role

Legendary Pictures recently released a short list of the actors they’d like to snag for the lead role in their upcoming film, Detective Pikachu. Choices include Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, as well as three other actors who are decidedly not Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

Okay, fine. They’re also considering Mark Wahlberg, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds. While any of these four actors would make for a great shock rat in a Sherlock hat, Johnson’s imposing presence and personality would nicely contrast with the tiny character. The other three could also achieve this contrast, just maybe not to the same degree.

It’s important to keep in mind that Legendary hasn’t confirmed anyone. In fact, there haven’t even been any official talks, negotiations or offers made to any of the four actors. They have people to write and direct, as well as a rough schedule for filming, but they haven’t quite gotten to the lead actor stage. Still, it’s rather amusing to imagine any of these gruff, hyper-masculine dudes doing the voice for the face of the entire Pokemon franchise. There was a petition to get Danny DeVito on board a few years back, but sadly nothing came of it. Hopefully we get a confirmation of the lead actor involved sooner rather than later.
