Dragon Ball FighterZ Launching on January 26, 2018

It Ain’t Mahvel, but Major Incoming FGC Hype in January

One of the more positive game announcements this year was Dragon Ball FighterZ. We’ve had Dragon Ball fighting games in the past, but a number factors including the tight-as-Zangief’s-tights gameplay, great art, iconic cast, and perhaps, the slight disappointment from Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite has led to an intense outpouring of love for this tag-battle fighting game.

One cool addition that shows Arc System Works’ drive to go the extra mile is Dragon Ball FighterZ‘s beefy Story Mode which lets the player take on the story from 3 different perspectives. Players will first play from the Saiyans’ POV in the Super Warriors Arc, then as the villains in the Super Villain Arc, before finally playing as the Androids in the Android Arc. This campaign-style storytelling for a fighting game is refreshing and reminds me of StarCraft‘campaignng mode. Besides that, players can level up their characters and even explore a map between battles. Bandai Namco also revealed some information on the game’s different editions below:

  • The DRAGON BALL FIGHTERZ – FighterZ Edition includes the game along with the FighterZ Pass which adds 8 new characters to the roster.
  • The DRAGON BALL FIGHTERZ – Ultimate Edition contains the game and the FighterZ Pass and additional content such as the commentator Voice Pack and the long-awaited Anime Music pack. The Anime Music Pack has been requested by fans for years and will include 11 songs from the anime. Players will be able to fight to the sound of “CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA”, “WE GOTTA POWER”, and the most famous endings and background music!

Dragon Ball FighteZ flies onto shelves on January 26th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
