The Witcher Series Closed GWENT Beta Ending This Weekend

The Witcher Series Closed GWENT Beta Ending This Weekend, CD PROJEKT RED Celebrates by Livestreaming the Challenger Tournament Finals

Although the CD PROJEKT RED card game for The Witcher series, GWENT: The Witcher Card Game, has been a smash hit with fans, they’re wrapping up the initial play phase with the closed GWENT Beta ending this weekend. Everyone who redeems their invite prior to closing, including over the weekend, will still remain active and be able to hop on and play.

If you’re interested in signing up for the closed beta and joining in before it ends, you can still sign up on playgwent.com through the weekend.

Benjamin Lee, Development Director at CD PROJEKT RED, had this to say about the success of the GWENT Beta – “Throughout Closed Beta, we’ve reworked and added a huge amount of features and mechanics to GWENT. Balance changes, numerous tweaks of how cards work and how the game flows; additional cards, a new faction and ranked play — it was an amazing ride and GWENT’s community was with us all the way… I’d like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the hours invested.”

If you weren’t able to make it into the Closed Beta before the cutoff, never fear. The end of the Closed Beta is just making way for the GWENT Public Beta, which CD PROJEKT RED will be making announcements about next week.

This weekend also sparks the GWENT Challenger tournament finals, which will be happening on May 13th. The community winners will be facing off against an onslaught of pro gamers such as Jeffrey “Trump” Shih, Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy, Peter “ppd” Dager, and Kacem “Noxious” Khilaji, to try to cash out from the $100,000 prize pool. They’ll be streaming the action at 3pm CEST on CD PROJEKT RED’s Twitch channel.
