Streamer Banned from Twitch after Being Swatted on a Plane

The Prank Caller May Be behind Other Swatting Incidents

Swatting is a plague to the world and doesn’t discriminate. Why? Because every place has its prankster. Take the most recent case of  Paul ‘ICE_Poseidon’ Denino who was recently swatted on a plane because of a fake bomb threat; as a result, he has been banned from Twitch.

Swatting

As a prolific IRL streamer, Denino regularly uses a GoPro to connect with fans. Garnering popularity as a RuneScape streamer, he transitioned over to Twitch’s IRL section. Ever since, a number of viewers have been pranking him on the go. Wherever he is, they manage to set authorities on him with false claims. This latest so-called ‘prank’ takes the cake, however.

One viewer went so far as to call in a fake bomb threat at the airport. Denino was onboard a plane set to leave for Phoenix when the call was made, and he was surprised to see authorities step aboard, although he was not so surprised when they singled him out. Because he was used to such maliciousness, the streamer expressed regret for the other people onboard the plane. Thanks to one caller and his presence, everyone else’s flight was delayed, and many were probably frightened.

Naturally, the incident made it all over the news with coverage gathering witness accounts. Eventually, Denino appeared on television to tell his perspective. You can find the segment and his reaction to the situation in the video below:

Denino’s peace of mind now relies on the capture of the prank caller responsible. “The guy who did it, it’s the same guy as the last time I got swatted,” he stated. “So I’m really hoping he gets caught. I’m really hoping they find him.”

To make matters worse, Twitch went ahead and permanently banned Denino from the service. The reason: streaming from a sensitive location, even though there are no such restrictions listed in Twitch’s IRL section. So Denino will be going through Twitch’s appeals process while he moves over to YouTube.

Unfortunately, the gaming community is not above such heinous acts. If any updates come our way, hopefully positive, we’ll keep you informed. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts on Denino’s case by commenting down below. Do you think the people behind swatting can be found? It happened in at least one case. Maybe it can happen for Denino.

Until next time.
