Massive Steampunk sandbox Steam Hammer Releases on Early Access
Polish those shoes, strap on some goggles, and set that top hat tight, its time for a steampunk sandbox adventure! Indie developer Big Way Games has announced that their highly ambitious steampunk title, Steam Hammer, is now available in Early Access. The game seems to be one part Rust, one part Sims, and every bit of RPG magic you know and love.
Players will be able to customize nearly every aspect of their gameplay, starting with the finer details of their character. Classes can be switched, with skills between classes traded or combined based on necessity. The land itself can be mined and molded how you need it as you gather resources to build your own Victorian-style, steampunk city. You will easily recognize the process of mining resources and growing crops from a whole host of similarly styled games, but the steampunk theme affords it a new feature: airships. Players will be able to construct a fleet of airships from blueprints, and even customize the ships construction to their own liking.
Steam Hammer is also set to feature PvP battles using an action-combat system: players will not be able to lock-on to their opponent, but rather must defeat them manually through skill. The possibilities for this game seem staggering, especially when you consider how big similarly styled games have become in the past.
Steam Hammer has been in development for two years following a successful Kickstarter campaign and is currently available through Steam Early Access for $29.99 USD. For more information, check out the official website.
