Modern Warfare Remastered Listed as a Standalone Game on Gamefly

Could Modern Warfare Remastered Arrive as a Separate Purchase

Many fans of original Infinity Ward’s critically-acclaimed classic may have been relieved when it was revealed as an extension of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. The news was a bit of a mixed bag, but we got it and that’s that. Or is it? Rumors abound as a result of the new listing on Gamefly that sets Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered as its own retail copy.

If there is any weight to this placeholder listing, then we could receive Modern Warfare as early as June. Although the Xbox One listing has the release date for July 20, Sony’s deal with Activision entails PlayStation 4 copies 30 days ahead of other systems. And if it does arrive as its own copy, the online playerbase may increase significantly. But, that may depend on the price point.

Naturally, the listing, if true, stirs many questions. For starters – Why now?

Players were eager to purchase the Legacy Edition when it launched for $79.99. Currently, there is still no other method of procuring Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for current generation consoles. Looks like that may change. But, what do you think?

Happy gaming.
