Kickstarter for Deadly Premonition’s Board Game Launches

Return to Greenvale

Some more information has been revealed about Deadly Premonition: The Board Game as its Kickstarter campaign launched today with a goal of $50, 000. As mentioned yesterday, Rising Star Games is publishing this board game and is relying on crowdfunding as boards games are outside their conventional practices. The board game, of course, is based on the Twin Peaks-inspired mystery game that became something of a cult hit from the PS3/Xbox 360 generation. Currently, the pledges are at $37, 290 and looks like the board game should have no problem clearing its target goals.

Deadly Premonition: The Board Game
The campaign video shows more information about the game itself as it’s a 2 – 4 player board game where players are tasked to find the identity of the killer. Before the game starts, each player is dealt an alignment card that determines whether they are helping the killer or the agents. The game culminates when a player uses evidence cards to drag other players who are working with the killer out from the shadows.

Deadly Premonition: The Board Game isn’t the only video game to go Kickstarter with its board game. Not too long ago, Capcom’s Mega Man also went to Kickstarter for its board game. That campaign hit most of its stretch goals as well as it raked in an impressive $415,041. Meanwhile, Deadly Premonition‘s board game is far more careful with stretch goals up to $150, 000 so far.  If the board game’s campaign is successful, we’ll see a fall release this year.

It’s been almost two years since Deadly Premonition‘s director, SWERY65’s last game. Hopefully, we’ll get more of his odd gaming style in this generation with an announcement at E3 2017.
