NPD Sales Chart for March Revealed
Today the NPD Group revealed their sales chart for the month of March in the United States, and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands claimed the top spot, followed by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in second place. The top 20 games for March were listed in the chart and include titles for the Nintendo Switch, Wii U, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
While many of you are probably wondering why The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild did not reign supreme, especially with the Nintendo Switch selling like hotcakes, and the reason is that digital sales were not included in the sales data. The NPD sales data is based on the hard copy sales of the game. There were five games that made the top 20, including Breath of the Wild, that had digital sales that were not counted in the final sales data, all of which are marked with an asterisk in the list. Along with the top 20 games for March it was also revealed that 1-2 Switch was purchased by 19% of those who bought the Nintendo Switch! It was also announced that Ghost Recon Wildlands enjoyed “the best launch of any Ghost Recon title” and “the second best launch of any Tom Clancy game,” following Tom Clancy’s The Division. Mass Effect: Andromeda had the second best launch in the series, behind Mass Effect 3, and Horizon: Zero Dawn broke records becoming the best launch for Guerilla Games! Horizon: Zero Dawn sold twice as much as Killzone: Shadow Fall within the first month alone!
