PS4 4.50 Firmware Update Launches Tomorrow

Firmware Update Brings Boost Mode and External HDD Compatibility

The newest version of PS4’s firmware, code-named “Sasuke,” will be available for download tomorrow. The firmware update comes with a host of new features, including:

-External HDD support

-PSVR improvements

-GIF support

-Voice chat for Remote Play

-Custom wallpaper and profile colours

-Boost Mode

PlayStation vr firmware update

The complete list is available on the Playstation Blog. Sony has also released a trailer video with details regarding the update, embedded below. While there are a lot of new features being implemented tomorrow, the real draw is still Boost Mode. For PS4 Pro owners, this means “better performance for legacy titles” without Pro patches available. It’s a much-needed fix that goes a long way towards justifying the purchase of a Pro system. Yes, GIFs and chat fixes are good, but improved game performance is a much higher priority. The blog post from Sony doesn’t mention the previously-reported limitations of the external HDD upgrade, but it does give details on what hard drives are compatible.
