NieR: Automata v1.03 Update is Live & Corrects a Game Breaking Issue

NieR: Automata’s v1.03 Update Has Arrived

Yesterday, we published our full official written review for NieR: Automata. In it, our man Nick said: “Even if you haven’t touched Darkengard or NieR in the past, I can’t recommend NieR: Automata enough. It’s such an interesting meld of open RPG, twitch action, platformer, bullet hell shooter that shouldn’t be ignored by anyone. In the slew of amazing games this spring release season, it’s easy to forget about this gem because it’s a sequel. Don’t let that happen to you.” Today, we learned a critical patch has gone live.

The update is 30MB in size. It fixes a few small bugs, in addition to a well-known issue that causes the game to fail to proceed after its prologue when all game files aren’t fully downloaded. This issue has caused serious frustration with some players since it follows more than 45 minutes of progress with no saves available.

The humans develop an army of android soldiers to fight back against the mechanical horde, but succeed only in slowing its advance. To break the deadlock, a new breed of android infantry is sent into the fray: the YoRHa squad.

In the forsaken wasteland below, the war between the machines and the androids rages on. A war that is soon to unveil the long-forgotten truth of this world…
