JonTron Will No Longer Be Making a Voice Acting Cameo in Yooka-Laylee

Following JonTron’s Controversial Statements over Social Media Platforms, Playtonic Games Is No Longer Welcoming His Voice Acting Cameo on Yooka-Laylee

Following that entire mess that is the JonTron controversy, Playtonic Games, the developers of the upcoming, color-filled platformer, Yooka-Laylee, made a solid statement against his remarks about immigration and nationalism made across a span of social media platforms that the popular gaming personality is involved with. JonTron is a well-known streamer and YouTuber who has collected over 3 million subscribers to put under his belt but, regardless of social standing, he’s getting the boot from the Yooka-Laylee title altogether.

Yooka-Laylee goes gold JonTron

If you’re curious about some of the things that the YouTuber had to say about these topics, you can watch his guest appearance on Steve Bonnell’s (AKA Destiny‘s) Twitch stream below, and it’s certainly something to witness… that is, if you’re into a two-hour long stream filled with unverified and unsubstantial claims about “wealthy black Americans who commit more crimes than poor whites,” and such other “demographic displacement.”

To make matters worse, after this stream, he was met with a large amount of controversy, so he attempted to further clarify himself over YouTube.

Playtonic officially addressed JonTron’s controversial statements and how they planned to handle it. Simply put, he’s no longer involved in Yooka-Laylee.

“JonTron is a talented video presenter who we were initially, two years ago, happy to include as a voice contributor in our game. However, in light of his recent personal viewpoints we have made the decision to remove JonTron’s inclusion in the game via a forthcoming content update. We would like to make absolutely clear that we do not endorse or support JonTron’s personal viewpoints and that, as an external fan contributor, he does not represent Playtonic in any capacity. Playtonic is a studio that celebrates diversity in all forms and strives to make games that everyone can enjoy. As such, we deeply regret any implied association that could make players feel anything but 100% comfortable in our game worlds, or distract from the incredible goodwill and love shown by our fans and Kickstarter backers.”
