Anamorphine, Coming to PC, Xbox One and VR
Montreal-based indie developer, Artifact 5 has been hard at work on their latest project, Anamorphine. Scheduled to be hitting PC, the Xbox One and various VR platforms, it is an absolutely surreal first-person exploration game where the player experiences the memories of the main character after an unknown trauma. Snapshots of happier days dance through Tyler’s head. When your own mind is against you, where else can you turn? Discover Anamorphine’s pure environmental storytelling in a new teaser that has Tyler journey through a series of memories leading up to a fateful accident.
Tyler, a young man in post-traumatic denial, revisits a succession of milestones that define his relationship with his wife Elena, who falls victim to an accident that robs her of her livelihood and emotional outlet. Tyler’s mental turmoil warps his past as he struggles to come to terms with his guilt and inability to help Elena when she quietly slips into depression.
Told with no dialogue or action button, Anamorphine’s narrative comes together through Tyler’s dream-like memories, contorting and bleeding into each other with his mental state. Will you confront the past and try to find a way to move on, or will you let it consume you?
Having recently won the award for Best Story / Storytelling at the 11th Game Connection Development Awards there’s no doubt that Anamorphine is a game you should be keeping your eye on. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on when the game is available alongside a full review upon its release.
