Phil Spencer: More First Party Xbox One Games in 2017 than 2016

Phil Spencer

2016 was a fairly good year for the Xbox brand but many fans have been left wondering what 2017 might shape up like. Between the cancellation of Scalebound and the unknown release dates of many upcoming exclusives, it isn’t surprising that some fans are worried that 2017 might end up a bit of a dud. According to Phil Spencer, have no fear ladies and gentlemen! In a recent Twitter exchange, Phil noted that not only are there more first party Xbox One games on the way but they’ll feature strong diversity and we’ve got a new IP on the way.

It’s safe to say that there are a lot of unknowns when it comes to Xbox’s 2017. When we published our ‘Best Xbox One Exclusives of 2017 for Xbox One’ article it was a stretch to find 12 of them to PlayStation’s Top 20 list. As well, many of the games were limited time exclusives that would move to other consoles or the PC in time. Considering Phil’s response up above one could safely assume that in order to back that statement up that Microsoft and the Xbox One brand have a few secrets up their sleeves that they’re not yet willing to indulge.

We know that the latter half of the year will be big for Xbox One and when Project Scorpio hits shelves it’s likely that there might be some new games to go along with it. Obviously, all we can do now is wait and see but as fans of all games from all platforms, we like Phil’s optimism.
