Newest NieR: Automata Trailer Shows More Story, Combat, Hotness
Trailer time! Square Enix and Platinum’s upcoming action game, NieR: Automata has a hot new trailer out.
There are English and Japanese versions, both of which are embedded below. Of note are the very brief shots of the main characters without their masks on. Look away if you’ve any hard rules about a pristine first playthrough. Also, be aware that some key plot points are hinted at through the dialogue. Of course, if you’ve played the previous installment, a lot of this will be slightly more familiar. The two games ostensibly take place in the same world, a spinoff of the Drakengard series.
There’s also combat shown off! Again, it’s rather brief, with shots that showcase the shmup-style maneuvers required to survive certain enemy encounters. What’s shown is more than enough, though. Fans are also given a taste of the scope and range the combat will encompass, with everything from tiny droids to titanic mechanical monstrosities.
NieR: Automata will be out in North America on March 7th, 2017. We’ll be sure to keep you abreast of all the relevant news as it’s released.
