Forza Series Zooms Past $1 Billion in Total Retail Sales

Popular Racing Series Forza Has Reached Over $1 Billion in Retail Sales

Since its debut in 2005, the Forza series has taken racing to another level, across both the Motorsport and Horizon titles, and now it has been announced that they have reached a huge milestone. The Forza series has reached a total of over 1 billion dollars in lifetime sales! This is due, in part, to the growing success and popularity of the game over just the past couple of years.

Earlier today, Alan Hartman, head of Turn 10 Studios, announced that the popular racing series has reached a lifetime retail sale total over 1 billion dollars! According to the data from the NPD Group, between November 2012 and January of this year, the retail sales mark Forza as the best-selling racing franchise of this console generation.” The NPD Group came to this conclusion based on sales from each of the games in the series, including all Motorsport and Horizon games.

According to Microsoft, there were over 14 million players involved in the Forza community, including players from both Windows 10 and the Xbox One. The growing community comes partly as a result of the launch of the Forza Racing Championship, which allows players to take part in a eSports league of varying difficulty and skill levels. It was confirmed that over 2.5 million copies of Horizon 3 were sold as of December 2016 as well!

Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, explained the success in a statement,“Since the beginning, Forza has combined stunning graphics, racing’s leading simulation engine, and an emphasis on fun and accessibility,” adding that Microsoft “couldn’t be more proud of their success.” The latest success in the series, Forza Horizon 3, came out in September of last year, debuting for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
