Yooka-Laylee Goes Gold, Meaning That They’ve Officially Wrapped up Development, as It Edges Closer to Its Release Date

Playtonic Games announces that their beloved Yooka-Laylee goes gold as they edge closer to the game’s launch on April 11. Soon, gamers will be able to play the colorful, 3D open-world platformer that’s been in development for nearly two years.

Yooka-Laylee goes gold

After 21 long months of creation, the game will be launching for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately for Wii U backers, Playtonic Games announced the cancellation of Yooka-Laylee for the Wii U console so that all focus of the Nintendo side of development could be focused towards the Nintendo Switch. This has caused a bit of an uproar on their open public forums, with Kickstarter backers being very vocal about feeling a bit tricked due to the announced cancellation being so close to the finished product’s launch date. However, Playtonic is offering full refunds to any backers who are unsatisfied with their options.
