New Expansion for Tom Clancy’s The Division, Last Stand, Revealed

Ubisoft Reveals Last Stand DLC Details for Tom Clancy’s The Division During Live Event

After releasing a teaser trailer for the newest expansion for Tom Clancy’s The Division yesterday, Ubisoft fleshed out some details during a live streaming event today, January 19th 2017. The expansion, called Last Stand, will release with update 1.6 and unlike previous game DLC’s, Last Stand will release on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation concurrently. Ubisoft did not provide us with a release date yet, but they did give us a ton of information on what to expect from this latest addition to the game.

It looks like this update will focus mostly on making PVP more versatile and interesting, but we have also been promised unspecified PVE elements as well. If you missed yesterday’s teaser trailer, check it out below:

Here are some of the highlights from today’s announcement event:

  • An entirely new Dark Zone is being added to the north of the map.
  • Dark Zone North areas will feature new kinds of playable environments like underground tunnels and rooftops, as well as more playable space.
  • Dark Zone areas are now doubled in size but will still retain the current player cap.
  • You will be able to travel straight from one Dark Zone to another either on foot or by fast travel.
  • A completely new PVP mode is being added – Last Stand – which is basically 8v8 matchmaking that fans of Battlefield and Call of Duty will feel right at home with.
  • There will be a new Incursion dropping with Last Stand but unfortunately, that is all we know currently.
  • A release date for Last Stand was not announced, but it will be out on the same day across all platforms.

It is great to see Ubisoft trying out new kinds of PVP space as well as experimenting with different ways to enter into player vs. player action. Hopefully, this expansion will breathe some new life into The Division and bring some of the player-base back. The last couple DLC’s ended up being released behind schedule as the developers were frantically trying to fix bugs and lingering issues that have plagued the game since launch. Last Stand is the final of three DLC updates included in the Season Pass ($40) or will be available by itself for $15.
