Electronics Arts to Host Its Own Major Event, Hence No E3 Showing

So Many Questions Surrounding Electronic Arts Points to Major Releases for 2017

Since umbrella Publisher EA is holding its own major event on the precipice of E3, again, we have to wonder what the heck they are planning. For anyone who doesn’t already know, EA recently announced EA Play – Their Live Event to be held at the Hollywood Palladium. Obviously it’s a big deal for anyone who’s a fan of Electronic Arts and/or their games. And we’re talking an extensive game list, from sports, to shooters, to RPGs. If not for E3, this might be the biggest gaming conference this year. Hence, we are forced to stare down the possibilities.

Naturally, we expect some more news on the critically-acclaimed shooters of 2016. Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2‘s commercial success may have been marginally hindered by short release windows; but, make no mistake, these titles are still relevant and can make or break a crowd at the drop of new content.

Additionally, we expect details on Fifa 18, its Nintendo Switch version, and more. And no doubt, Madden NFL, NHL 18, and the next UFC may receive some introduction. There will be announcements, but innovation are usually reserved for E3, when a console announces some new add-on or timed exclusivity.

Madden NFL 17

Star Wars hopefuls may have something special to look forward to, since EA has the license. Most likely we’ll see some new VR experiences, if not Star Wars Battlefront 2 or some other new IP.  But if EA remains consistent in their reaction to the movie industry, then we can expect a Star Wars game before every cinematic release. Battlefront precipitated The Force Awakens, and its latest DLC precipitated Rogue One. So that might be a dead giveaway.

And, of course, as it will take place nearly 3 months after the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda, DLCs for our favorite Sci-fi are a definite maybe. Possibly topping that would be a reveal for Dragon Age 4. Only speculation. Nevertheless, EA’s absence at E3 suggests big news incoming, and what could be bigger? We’ll just have to wait and see.

EA Play will bring fans together on June 10-12, 2017. Thus, it will be streamed live across the world. Competitions and detailed previews of upcoming games are a guarantee. For more info on the event and how to buy tickets, you can visit their dedicated website here.
