Rollerblading isn’t Dead, Not if ‘On a Roll’ has Anything to Say About It

On a Roll Wants to Get Gamers Back on Their Blades

You know what the gaming world needs more of? Rollerblades. Yeah, that’s right, rollerblades. Not since the criminally underrated movie Prayer of the Rollerboys have I been more excited about getting EXTREME in a pair of fruit boots. All kidding aside, the developers of On a Roll have definitely tackled a corner of the market that we haven’t seen in a while and if we’re being honest, the game looks quite good.

Funded over on Kickstarter and heading to PS4, Xbox One, and PC, On A Roll is a rollerblading video game where you have the ability to explore open worlds, create your ideal skater with the custom skater editor, choose from different skate styles, play the game as your favorite professional skater and lots more! Thanks to the dynamic world of On A Roll the possibilities are endless. Important details of note are the smaller bits of attention to detail such as the hipster-approved top knot on one of the skaters which is super relevant. Just watch!

The game strives for realism on all levels. All rollerblading movements are recorded with a state of the art inertial motion capture system. Apart from capturing several professional skaters, 3D scans were made of their bodies. Thanks to these two techniques the unique style of each skater will be seamlessly integrated in the game. The same goes for sound: all sounds have been professionally recorded on real life skate locations.

Jokes aside, this Tony Hawk for the inline skaters looks much better than it will probably get credit for. As with every indie developed game we hope it turns out to be a great experience for not only its backers but the developers as well.
