Gears of War 4 Holiday Event Has Begun
The Gears of War 4 holiday event, “Gearsmas” begins today. Microsoft has released a bunch of holiday-themed content to the game, including a snowball fight mode. The Gearsmas holiday pack costs $1 or 400 game credits, and comes with a bounty and two items from the holiday collection list!
This Gearsmas celebration only lasts until December 28th, so players only have 12 days to pick up some cool holiday gear. Over this event players can get some holiday skins and armour to beef up their collection, and can participate in some holiday event specials! Â If you pick up a Gearsmas pack, you’ll have a chance to unlock 28 different pieces of holiday themed content, including a Gears of War take on an ugly Christmas sweater, in the form of armour variants for JD, Kair and Swarm Drone.
Gears of War 4’s daily rewards system will give out holiday gifts today and from Christmas Eve through Boxing Day. If you log in, you will receive a “Chuzzmas” emblem and the “Ice Boomshot” between December 24th and 26th.
In addition to the Gearsmas collection items, there will be a new game mode called Snowball Fight, which is a variant of team deathmatch. Each player starts with the Snowshot, a customized, snowball firing version of the Boomshot, and two snowballs. In order to keep shooting, players will need to find more snowballs throughout the maps. A second playlist is also available: Crossplay Versus. This game mode allows for cross-platform play between Xbox One and PC players. Both of these game modes will give 1.5 times the amount of XP during the Gearsmas holiday event.
Lastly, Microsoft teased that the Union of Independent Republics (UIR) faction will be coming to Gears of War 4 later this month stating “There might be something new to find on December 25.” If you haven’t picked up Gears of War, Microsoft is offering a deal on the game until the event ends on the 28th.
