For Honor Rumor: Game May Require Constant Internet Connection

Possibility Says Ubisoft’s Highly-anticipated Game Won’t Work Without Internet

This For Honor rumor comes to us via Neogaf user, Rymuth, who posted the screenshot containing the game’s box art. Information on the cover suggests the game will not be playable without internet connection. Which, if this turns out to be the case, Ubisoft players won’t have samurai, knights, or vikings as their worst enemies, but crappy routers.

For Honor Rumor

Still awaiting confirmation from Ubisoft, which may or may not put players at ease. Interesting fact, however, is that For Honor–while multiplayer-focused–will still have a single player mode. A single player mode may not require an internet connection, but it would be peculiar if that were the case. Especially true since Ubisoft has made a point assuring gamers that single-player will be just as satisfying as multiplayer:

It’s a full story campaign, a cinematic adventure where you will play as the knights first as the Warden, then you play as the Raider, then you play as the Orochi… You’ll play all through three different regions; the knights’ homeland, the Viking homeland, and the samurai homeland. You’ll go on this great adventure… We built the campaign so that if you bought the game just for that, that you would be satisfied even if you never went online and played multiplayer. It’s intended to be a full experience

Since For Honor’s multiplayer is a huge aspect of the game, then it would make sense to include an internet sticker. It is, after all, the primary mode advertised by Ubisoft thus far. No doubt players will know for sure before its release, currently scheduled on February 14 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
