PS4 Pro Launch Blasts PS4 Sales in Japan Over a Whopping 3.5 Million

PS4 Pro Provides Boost to PS4 Sales in Japan

A couple of days ago we told you how Sony is enjoying a huge boost in console sales thanks to the release of the PS4 Pro. Sales have nearly tripled for PS4 consoles in the UK. Today, Media Create released its weekly estimates for console sales in Japan. More specifically, they revealed the number of PS4 Pro units sold in the country in the first week the console was sold.

According to the independent firm, which is apparently used by local manufacturers like Sony and Nintendo to report on their sales, the PS4 Pro and the standard PS4 sold 92,344 units combined during the last week, which included four days on the shelves for the Pro (from Thursday November 10th to Sunday November 13rd). This figure is slightly different from the one provided by Famitsu’s sources, that indicated a total of 93,512 PS4 consoles sold in the country last week, of which 65,194 were PS4 Pro. The discrepancy isn’t surprising due to the fact that Famitsu and Media Create use a different pool of retailer sources to build their estimates.

For the sake if comparison, the new slimmed-down CUH-2000 PS4 pushed sales up to 96,433 units in its debut week, but with the help of a substantial price cut and the launch of Persona 5. The new figures, added to Media Create historical data, push PS4 sales past 3,500,000 in the country, and more precisely to 3,546,548 since its local launch on February 22nd, 2015.
