NieR: Automata Could Head to Xbox One & Will Be Optimized for PS4 Pro

NieR: Automata Headed to Xbox One?

Earlier this past summer, NieR: Automata Producer Yosuke Saito indicated there are no plans to port the game to the Xbox One. The first NieR game launched for both the PS3 and Xbox 360, so understandably when Xbox fans found out that the upcoming NieR: Automata would not be coming to Xbox One, they were a little miffed.

At the time of writing, Platinum Games have kept NieR: Automata exclusive to PS4 and PC; however, in a recent interview the developer didn’t rule out the possibility that game will release on Xbox One. In the interview, producer Yosuke Saito confirmed the team is considering to release NieR: Automata to Xbox One, but he added that the decision to do so will be based upon the success of the game on the PS4 and PC.

In the interview Saito-san also confirmed that that the game will be optimized for PS4 Pro and will retain the 60 FPS frame rate, while the developers are trying to optimize it to run at 4K resolution.

The game is set to release in Japan on February 23, 2017 for PS4.

A western release and a launch on Steam have also been announced, but have no date as of right now.
