Game Awards 2016: Nominations Revealed

Game Awards Nominations Announced

This years Game Awards ceremony and full list of nominees have been announced!  The nominee list includes some of the biggest and brightest stars of the year and is topped by Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Overwatch, and DOOM. While some might disagree with a few of the nominations, or with the fact that some big names are missing from the list, we will just have to wait until December 1st for the full ceremony to kick off. We are definitely waiting to see which games, regardless of nominations, will take home the most awards!

This will be the third ceremony for The Game Awards, airing on December 1, 2016 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, CA starting at 8:30pm ET/5:30pm PT.  The event is set to be broadcast on Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook Live, PSN, Xbox Live, Steam, IGN and Gamespot and for the first time in history: VR for those with VR headsets.

In order to be eligible for this years Game Awards, games have to have a release date on or before Nov. 24, 2016, which excludes some big 2016 games such as Final Fantasy 15, Dead Rising 4 and The Last Guardian. That also means that late entrants from 2015, anything released after Nov. 24, are eligible for the 2016 awards. This includes Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, which debuted last December and is up for Best Multiplayer Game.

The most nominated games are Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End with eight nominations, Overwatch with six nominations, and DOOM with five nominations. Check out the full list of Game Awards 2016 nominees below.
