New Deadpool 2 Director Has Been Confirmed

Deadpool 2 Director Confirmed

Earlier this week we posted some details about Deadpool 2, including rumors of who was in the running to become the director following Tim Miller’s exit from the film. It has been confirmed that David Leitch, known for his work on many big movies such as Hitman: Agent 47, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and John Wick, will direct the Deadpool sequel.

In June of this year producer Simon Kinberg stated that the script for Deadpool 2 was near completion. While only time will tell what changes Deadpool 2 might have because of the new director, it should be noted that the co-writers for the original movie, Paul Wernick and Rhett Rheese, are still working on the film. This means that we can probably expect much of the same humor as was in the original movie.

Released in February, Deadpool was an absolute success! It made $782 million at the worldwide box office against a budget of $58 million. Fans of the franchise already have high hopes for the sequel, and the news of Leitch as the new director should mean great things for Deadpool 2. We are excited to see what it will look like!

The Deadpool sequel was originally expected to start filming early next year, however there is no longer a start date for the shooting of the film, nor is there a release date set yet. Stay tuned for all the details as we receive them!
