Pokemon Go Quietly Received Some Big Server-Side Changes

Niantic Continuing To Refine Pokemon Go

The servers for Pokemon Go appear to have gotten a little bit of love in a recent update. Many users on websites are noting various changes to the popular mobile app, and the game’s major criticism has been it’s lack of attention/involvement from Niantic, so it’s refreshing to see they haven’t gotten lazy with the game. Especially with how much is still supposedly on the way.

Various users on the Pokemon Go subreddit /r/SilphRoad have been compiling all they have come across so far, and you can find those changes below:

All changes are server side. Bear in mind, this is all based on what users have been finding, so your mileage may vary as you read these tweaks to Pokemon Go :

  • New Movesets for some Pokés (CONFIRMED by Game_Master file)
  • Dodging changed to general max. 75% damage evasion (CONFIRMED by Game_Master file)
  • Regional spawn rates increased heavily (CONFIRMED by obvious observations)
  • Increased potion drop rates (HIGHLY LIKELY due to multiple observations and testing)
  • Rare spawn increase in general (HIGHLY LIKELY due to multiple observations)
  • Faster egg hatch updates (LIKELY due to observations and minor tests – needs more testing)
  • Nest changes, needs to be further elaborated (UNLIKELY some observations but no general evidence, most did not change)

This update is confirmed to be live, along with a more recent one that is in the midst of being published for release soon. It’s nice to see the spawn rates getting increased, as there are some users who appear to have gotten a bit of a raw deal in terms of catching Pokemon. You can bet that COGconnected will be keeping you up to date on all the latest changes with one of the world’s most popular apps, so be sure to keep your eyes on COGconnected.
